H&R Block names Tiffany Scalzitti Monroe as Chief People Officer

H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE: HRB) today named Tiffany Scalzitti Monroe as its new chief people officer, effective March 5, 2018. Monroe will assume responsibility for all human resources functions, such as organizational and performance management, talent development, and ensuring the workforce has both the people and organizational capabilities to enable and ultimately deliver company strategy. Her responsibilities include on- and off-boarding Block’s tax season workforce of nearly 80,000 tax professionals.

Monroe most recently served at U.S. Foods, headquartered near Chicago in Rosemont, Ill. as the chief human resources officer. While there, she focused strongly on talent and culture development, including instituting a formal talent assessment process, formal development programs, and redesigning the company’s incentive programs to better attract and retain great talent.

Prior to her position at U.S. Foods, Monroe served at Target Corporation for 15 years where she held a variety of leadership positions. Her most recent role was as the senior vice president for human resources at Target Canada, headquartered in Ontario, where she was credited with developing an innovative program to better recruit top talent, providing development opportunities, and implementing a comprehensive total compensation program.

Monroe holds a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University and a juris doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.
