H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE: HRB) today named Tiffany Scalzitti Monroe as its new chief people officer, effective March 5, 2018. Monroe will assume responsibility for all human resources functions, such as organizational and performance management, talent development, and ensuring the workforce has both the people and organizational capabilities to enable and ultimately deliver company strategy. Her responsibilities include on- and off-boarding Block\u2019s tax season workforce of nearly 80,000 tax professionals.<\/p>\n

\u201cTiffany is a highly talented and transformational senior leader. There\u2019s no job more important than ensuring our people have the skills, capabilities and developmental opportunities to do their best work,\u201d said Jeff Jones, H&R Block president & chief executive officer. \u201cTiffany will bring passion, energy and expertise to an enterprise-wide focus on developing our people in ways that best deliver the company\u2019s strategy,\u201d Jones said.<\/p>\n

Monroe most recently served at U.S. Foods, headquartered near Chicago in Rosemont, Ill. as the chief human resources officer. While there, she focused strongly on talent and culture development, including instituting a formal talent assessment process, formal development programs, and redesigning the company\u2019s incentive programs to better attract and retain great talent.<\/p>\n

Prior to her position at U.S. Foods, Monroe served at Target Corporation for 15 years where she held a variety of leadership positions. Her most recent role was as the senior vice president for human resources at Target Canada, headquartered in Ontario, where she was credited with developing an innovative program to better recruit top talent, providing development opportunities, and implementing a comprehensive total compensation program.<\/p>\n

Monroe holds a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University and a juris doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.<\/p>\n
