The information below is for historical information.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A mortgage insurance premium deduction is only available if all of these are true:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You paid or accrued premiums on a qualified mortgage insurance contract issued after Dec. 31, 2006.<\/li>\n<li>The mortgage is acquisition debt for a qualified residence (a new mortgage).<\/li>\n<li>You itemize your deductions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, even if you meet the criteria above, the mortgage insurance premium deduction will be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduced by 10% for each $0.00 your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than one of these:\n<ul>\n<li>$0.00<\/li>\n<li>$0.00 if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrblock.com\/tax-center\/filing\/personal-tax-planning\/claiming-married-and-filing-separately\/\">married filing separately<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Eliminated if your AGI is more than one of these:\n<ul>\n<li>$0.00<\/li>\n<li>$0.00 if married filing separately<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The mortgage insurance premium deduction is available through tax year 2020.
