If you owe less than $50,000 and can pay your balance due in full within six years, you will not be required to provide financial information to the IRS. However, if you owe over $25,000, you will be required to set up a direct debit installment agreement to avoid the IRS filing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrblock.com\/tax-center\/irs\/audits-and-tax-notices\/tax-dictionary-federal-tax-lien\/\">notice of federal tax lien<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The user fee for requesting an installment agreement using Form 9465 is $225 with payment by check and $107 with payment by direct debit from your checking account. To qualify for a lower user fee, you can request an installment agreement using the IRS Online Payment Agreement tool.
