In 2020, Congress passed two stimulus bills to help the unprecedented number of people who are now out of work or facing other financial hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the promise of a second round of money on the way, many Americans are asking how to get direct deposit for their stimulus checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s the good news<\/strong>: The IRS shared that most people will get a direct deposit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can confirm where your second stimulus payment will be made with the  IRS Get My Payment tool<\/a>. Read below for instructions on how to check the tool<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of the speed at which the IRS issued the second round of stimulus payments, there isn\u2019t an opportunity to provide or change your direct deposit information on file with IRS. However, you should know that all stimulus checks sent by mail will be issued by the end of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to get your stimulus check information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We understand how important this payment is for taxpayers. To help you get the information you need, we\u2019ve outlined what you can expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most taxpayers will be able to view their payment status using these steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go to https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/coronavirus\/get-my-payment<\/a> to get to the official IRS site.*<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Click Get My Payment<\/strong>.<\/li>
  2. Read the system usage alert message and click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>
  3. Enter your personal information (Social Security number, date of birth and address from your tax return) and click CONTINUE<\/strong>.<\/li>
  4. Find your stimulus payment status information. (If your status says \u201cPayment Status Not Available,\u201d read the next section for more information.)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    *<\/strong>Take care to only use the official IRS site address to enter your personal information. Unfortunately, scammers still operate in times of crisis and may try to deceive you with fraudulent links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
