But according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/revenue\/taxes\/hall-income-tax\/due-date-and-tax-rates.html\">Tennessee Department of Revenue<\/a>, the state income tax is being eliminated, and the applicable tax rate for each year of the phase out is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4% of taxable income for tax years beginning January 1, 2017<\/li>\n<li>3% of taxable income for tax years beginning January 1, 2018<\/li>\n<li>2% of taxable income for tax years beginning January 1, 2019<\/li>\n<li>1% of taxable income for tax years beginning January 1, 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>(Repeal starts January 1, 2021)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There is a flat tax that applies to income\u00a0earned from interest and dividends, however. In 2019, the\u00a0tax\u00a0was 2%. In addition, the state\u2019s cities don\u2019t tax income on a local level.<\/p>\n<h2>So, Are There Tennessee Tax Brackets?<\/h2>\n<p>Income earned in Tennessee is taxed in brackets at the same rate, thus there are not tax brackets to report.
