To avoid paying to e-file your federal taxes, you need to enter the Activation Code you got when you bought your program.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll enter the Activation Code in the\u00a0<strong>File\u00a0<\/strong>tab when the program asks you to enter it. Your Activation Code is a unique ten-character code sent with your copy of the H&amp;R Block Tax Software that lets you e-file for free.<\/p>\n<p>If you can&#8217;t find your Activation Code, use this information to locate it based on how you bought your software:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Downloaded from H&amp;R Block: Check your in-box for your purchase confirmation. The Activation Code will be in the email you received when you bought your software.<\/li>\n<li>Downloaded from an online retailer (Ex: Amazon): First, check your in-box. The code should be in the purchase confirmation email. You can also check in your account on the website where you bought the software. There should be a history of your digital software purchases and the Activation Code for your H&amp;R Block Tax Software.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>More Info on Paying to E-File Taxes<\/h2>\n<p>Though free federal e-files are included with your software, you\u2019ll have to pay to e-file your state taxes. They aren&#8217;t included in the cost of your federal or state programs and don&#8217;t count as one of your five free federal e-files.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we&#8217;ll ask you to enter your payment information again if you&#8217;re refiling a rejected return.
