There are two types of files you can use to import your tax return:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can import last year&#8217;s tax return data file from:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>H&amp;R Block software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TurboTax software<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can import a PDF copy last year&#8217;s return from any source, including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>H&amp;R Block Tax Software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>H&amp;R Block Online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>H&amp;R Block tax office<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TurboTax online or software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TaxAct Online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any other tax prep company where you have a PDF copy of your prior-year return<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A scanned PDF copy of your paper return<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have both a tax data file and a PDF of your return, the tax data file will let us import more tax return data than a PDF of your return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-import-last-year-s-tax-return\">How to import last year&#8217;s tax return?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To import last year\u2019s tax return to H&amp;R Block Tax Software, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the&nbsp;<strong>My 2023 Taxes <\/strong>screen, click&nbsp;<strong>Start a Return<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the\u00a0<strong>How do you want to import your taxes from last year?<\/strong> screen, choose the type of file you want to import last year&#8217;s tax return.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the tax return file you want to import, or drag and drop the file if it\u2019s a PDF. If the file you want isn\u2019t listed, click <strong>Browse<\/strong> to find it.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>H&amp;R Block&#8217;s last year&#8217;s tax return files from last year have a .T22 extension.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TurboTax<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> files have a .tax2022 extension.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PDF files will have the .pdf extension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Import Selected File<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the&nbsp;successful import screen, click <strong>View Summary<\/strong> to see a summary of the info you&#8217;re importing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Next.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a file name for your return.
